Barbara's life-story writing grew out of Naomi Rachel's memoir class at Frasier. Two of her pieces were published as examples in Teachers & Writers Magazine in 2019:
- “Preface”, an essay written from a photograph of herself at three years old (in “The Photography Assignment”).
- “Auntie”, a character sketch (in “The Character Sketch”).
Creative Crones (2019)

Creative Crones: Having and Writing the Times of Our Lives collects memoir pieces by sixteen women writers from the Frasier life-stories class, spanning the 1940s to the 1990s. Barbara proposed the book and compiled it, and it includes her piece “Preface.”
It was launched with a reading at the Boulder Book Store in December 2019. Read the announcement or Frasier's story about the book.
